Tanaji Malusare was a military leader and legendary warrior in the Maratha Empire. Tanaji and Shivaji’s friendship was so close since childhood that the two would not do any work without each other, even if they were to fight in a war. Both of them took part in the war against Aurangzeb and during the war itself, they were taken captive by Aurangzeb. Later the two plan together and they both escape together from Aurangzeb’s fort.
Significant contribution to Maratha Empire
As Subedar, Tanaji always showed his dedication to the Maratha Empire by playing his important contribution. Seeing the state of the country, he had vowed to make the country a complete swaraj in his childhood. What was it then? He went down to the battlefield to fulfil his promise. In the pages of history, he got an important place in the battle of Kondana Fort, with his grand prize.

Tanaji and Shivaji did not do any work without the consent of each other and due to this, Shivaji advised them to conquer the fort of Singh Garh and name them and encouraged them to climb the fort of Singh Garh. This fort of Singh Garh was established in Pune area of Mumbai. Tanaji, who did not mention anything about Shivaji, went out to conquer the fort of Singh Garh with his army. It was such a strong fort that fell from the Mughal troops from all around, about 5000 soldiers were guarding the fort under the supervision of King Uday Bhan.
Uday Bhan, being a Hindu leader under the greed of power, was supporting the Mughals, this was not acceptable to Shivaji and Tanaji at all.
When Tanaji planned to leave for the war, his son Raiba was about to get married at that time. But the soldiers fighting for the country love their country more than their family, they prefer to consider their country as their family, something Tanaji did when he left his son’s marriage and went to war. Tanaji and his army were so entrenched in Swaraj that they wanted to make the Kondana fort in their name under any circumstances.
In the dark darkness of the night, he surrounded the Kondana fort with his soldiers from all sides and slowly all the soldiers entered the palace. The structure of the fort was such that it was very difficult for anyone to enter it. But with the help of Tanaji’s clever and clever intelligence, he, along with his entire army, attacked the fort in a fierce way. His invasion did not give Mughal soldiers a chance to understand even for a moment.
The Mughal soldiers did not even know how and from which side this attack took place before the Maratha army completely broke down before they could understand this. With great valor, Tanaji fought this war and finally got to Veergati while fighting the war. During his lifetime, he fought many wars with Chhatrapati Shivaji and won them too.
He won this battle of Singh Garh by giving his life and also registered his name in the golden pages of history. When this was attained to Veeragati, this war did not stop there, his maternal uncle and his brother fought this war together and finally, after winning it, took possession of the Kondana Fort and thereby waving the Maratha flag to win their victory. Spread with joy all over the country. When the matter of his death reached Shivaji, he said: “Gad ala, pan sinha gela” with great passion that he won the fort but we lost a brave lion of the Maratha Empire.

Praising Tanaji’s valor, Shivaji established many of his eminences in Pune and the surrounding area.
