Archie Battersbee is a 12-year-old British boy who participated in a viral social media trend known as the Whiteout Challenge, and he sorrowed a catastrophic brain injury.
On 7th April Battersbee was found unconscious at home and taken to Southend University Hospital. On 8th April Battersbee was transferred from Southend University Hospital to The Royal London Hospital, where he remained.
On 5 August The High Court ruled that Battersbee must not be moved to a hospice and must spend his final days at the hospital. Dance said that the hospital would withdraw treatment the next day and that all legal avenues to continue treatment had been exhausted.
The courts repeatedly ruled that Battersbee’s treatment should stop, and all appeals by the family against the court’s rulings were denied. 2wikipedia.org
On 6 August Battersbee’s life support was withdrawn, and soon after he was pronounced dead.
