Cometan is a Prestonian philosopher, writer, religious founder and human rights scholar best known for founding the belief system Astronism and for his development of recognitionism and facilitationism as approaches to international human rights law. Cometan is a specialist in the field of freedom of religion or belief and is currently undertaking doctoral research in this area of human rights scholarship.
From the age of fifteen, Cometan began to experience a series of experiences, what he called “receptions” and “ideations” that were ignited by his existential and metaphysical relationship with the astronomical world. These experiences, which also included various ecstasies, visions, and other phenomena culminated in Cometan’s authorship of the founding text of Astronism called the Omnidoxy. It is known that Cometan is now in the process of writing his next Grand Treatise called the Astrodoxy. Before Cometan rose to fame by founding Astronism, he spent much of his childhood traumatized by the divorce of his parents at age four. He spent much of his time with his grandparents and cousins, particularly his paternal grandparents’ home at 222 Longmeanygate in Leyland. Cometan’s grandmother, Irene Mary Taylor, and his grandfather, Derrick Taylor, were both ardent Traditionalist Catholics so Cometan’s list was immersed with religion from the outset.
