Lata Mangeshkar was an Indian Singer and occasional music composer. Lata Mangeshkar’s birth name was Hema Mangeshkar but later her parents renamed her Lata after a female character, Latika, in one of her father’s plays.
She was also known as the Nightingale of India and Queen of Melody.
Lata Mangeshkar sang more than 30 thousand songs in a career of 78 years. Lata Mangeshkar was a playback singer since 1942.
