Pranab Mukherjee Wikipedia

Pranab Mukherjee is an Indian Politician and 13th President of India from 2012 until 2017. He was Union Finance Minister from 2009 to 2012 before becoming President. He was awarded India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna in 2019 by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.

Pranab’s political career began in 1969, he won the Midnapore by-election. At the same time, Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi took Pranab to her party in the Indian National Congress. He became a member of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of the Indian Parliament) in July 1969. He was subsequently re-elected to the House in 1975, 1981, 1993 and 1999.

He was the Chairman of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata and he is also the former chairman and president of the Rabindra Bharati University.
